We’re talking about finding a body on the pavement – not moving, but breathing, and in one case unresponsive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This happened to one of our members, and although he called 999 , it took 45 and 80 minutes for the ambulances to arrive, and like many he had a little knowledge of first aid, but not enough to have confidence in how to deal with the situations. (by the way, both ‘bodies’ ended up OK)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This acted as a catalyst to discuss having some first aid training, and recently several members and friends underwent a refresher to the training we’d received around 3 years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of course, we hope that we won’t need to use it, but you just don’t when it might be useful. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is also worthwhile to have first aid knowledge at some of our smaller events, such as touring with Santa and the Sleigh and our quiz in the New Year. ( for our larger events, we have St Johns Ambulance or similar attend)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
